PADI Compressor Operator course covers an area not otherwise taught within traditional diver training syllabuses.
Training is split into a classroom session followed by a practical session. During the classroom session, compressor principles of operation are discussed. An in-class demonstration unit allows a hands-on approach to showing key components and their function. Documentation, responsibilities of operators, air quality and checks on a variety of systems are discussed. User level maintenance is demonstrated including procedures for repackable filter media replacement.
The practical session following the classroom allows hands on use of a compressor system and students can put to practice the procedures learned earlier in class.
This can be seen as a proactive step towards increasing employability within the industry in addition to becoming a safe and competent compressor operator. Previous candidates have included boat owners / crew, Divemasters / Instructors, commercial divers and dive center staff.
The course is accompanied by student notes and a USB resources drive. Compressor Operator was authored by DiveRepairs.com and has been approved by PADI. Upon successful completion, a PADI Compressor Operator certification is issued along with a DiveRepairs.com Certificate of Completion including a course transcript of topics covered.
The course serves well as a grounding before gas blender courses.
